It is the commonest inflammatory arthritis of men above 40 years old, and it is 20 times commoner in men than women; however, the number of postmenopausal women who have gout is increasing.
Gout is a complex disorder that can affect anyone. It is one of the oldest and probably most painful diseases known to mankind, which the symptoms develop at a quick pace. Fortunately, gout is treatable, and there are ways to keep gout from recurring.
Gout is caused when a patient continuously has trouble digesting properly and waste matter from digested foods accumulates within the body, the excess uric acid then starts to crystallize and settle in the joints (especially on the feet), setting off inflammation, pain, and stiffness.

Twelve people, including five P.C. Richard & Son employees, have been indicted for operating a fraudulent credit card scheme which sent more than $100,000 worth of cell phones and other high-end electronics to Pakistan.
The defendants are accused of using fraudulent cards to get cash advances at banks and working with dishonorable merchants who would make phantom credit card swipes and give them a percentage of the charged amount in cash, according to a statement from Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
The indictment charges that Raza Chaudhry, along with his wife, Reema Chaudhry, his sons Zishan and Amjad Chaudhry and his brother Zahir, all of College Point, applied for credit cards using false or synthetic identification with invalid or stolen Social Security numbers. It’s alleged that Zishan Chaudhry created forged verification documents, such as Social Security cards, utility bills, pay stubs and college enrollment bills, which were then faxed to the various credit card companies. However, the mailing addresses associated with the applied for cards were various mail drops in Queens County and elsewhere, according to the DA.
Farmingdale-based P.C. Richards didn’t return calls requesting comment.
Once the new card was at a sufficient credit level, the Chaudhrys or their associates would allegedly flood the account with fraudulent payments every few days. In one instance, Shaheen Akthar, a Chaudry associate, was observed on bank surveillance video depositing fraudulent checks into a Citibank account and attempting to use a fraudulent card at P.C

Many savy eBayers can spot shill bidding easily, especially where the auction in not private. A simple search of bidders & sellers activity will show patterns will show suspicious activity. Many shill bidders use the same email provider as a hint.
Other things to look out are bid retraction which are shown within the members information box, & where one bidder has shown an interest in many items from a member. It’s not always the case, as some users only deal with sellers who they feel confident with but if you think someone is shill bidding they probably are.
Shill Bidding is seen as a serious violation to eBay who will normally suspend your account for thirty days initially, if you are caught shill bidding on a second occasion your eBay account is normally closed permanently.

Ryan Kennedy is having coffee in his new apartment and waiting. Someone from the cable company is supposed to be on the way to hook up his wireless Internet, and he’s hoping his friend Steve Himes is going to bring a computer desk by.
At this point, the 29-year-old can use whatever furniture he can get. His new home is sparse. The walls are bare and there’s the hint of an echo. To sit, he has only a stool and a ratty-looking folding chair. But at least he’s got his guitars.
The apartment is a big deal for Kennedy. Since he graduated from Berklee Music College in Boston eight years ago, he’s played professionally and taught guitar while living at his parents’ home.
He’d been moving toward his own place for some time, but things have speeded up since he’s become an official, albeit auxiliary, member of the Mountain Stage Band. Kennedy signed the contract with the show a few weeks ago.
“I’ve been on the show,” he said. “A couple of years ago, they had a canceled act and asked me and Laurel to play a couple of songs.”
Laurel Dennie, a singer, is Kennedy’s occasional musical partner and longtime girlfriend. Until recently, she was a production assistant with “Mountain Stage,” working behind the scenes and, from time to time, as a backup singer.
Kennedy got the call on a Sunday morning, hours before the show. He was in a dead sleep.
“It wasn’t how I imagined I’d get that kind of call,” he laughed.
Fighting a case of nerves, the two of them performed admirably. They were invited back, and Kennedy performed several other times on the show with pianist Bob Thompson. Then in early fall, “Mountain Stage” bassist Steve Hill underwent heart surgery. His recovery was expected to take a couple of months.
“Mountain Stage” host Larry Groce and executive producer Andy Ridenour at asked Kennedy to fill in.
“Steve missed five shows,” Kennedy said. “After Steve came back, Larry got the idea to keep me around more permanently.”
Kennedy isn’t certain how much time he’ll spend on stage at first. “Mountain Stage” currently has Ron Sowell and Michael Lipton on guitar and Steve Hill on bass.
“They really have it covered,” he said

Beware of laser toner cartridges that are priced way below market standard. Bad or old packaging should also send up a red flag for phony laser toner cartridges.
Finally, if your cartridge runs out of ink too quickly, gives messy prints, or damages your printer, don?t buy from the same retailer again.
This is not to say that all compatible toner cartridges are bunk. But if you?re going to spend tens of dollars on a cartridge, why risk it?
Remanufactured Laser Toner Cartridges
Most manufacturers, and some third-party distributors, will give you money or discounts in exchange for your old laser toner cartridges. They in turn replace the guts of the cartridge, refill it with toner, and resell it at a big discount. In many cases, the quality is almost exactly the same as new. For example, a black-ink cartridge for an Epson Stylus Color 880 costs $27 from Epson, but only $12 from Rhinotek.
Laser Toner Info provides detailed information about later toner cartridges and refills, as well as reviews of laser toner products.

WEALTH WARNING -LOAN & CREDIT CARD SCANDAL; ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE

Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) policies are designed to cover the cost of loan or credit card repayments in the event that the customer is off sick f r o m w o r k o r h a s b e c o m e unemployed. However, Renaissance Easy Claim, a leading financial complaints company, is warning that many people were sold policies they didn’t want or need and so could be due compensation.
Andy Humphries, Managing Director of Renaissance explains, “The main problems with PPI are that many people don’t really need the policy they have; the numerous exclusions on the policy mean they may not be able to claim at all; and that the benefit i s restricted to a set period of time -usually 12 months. Many customers did not even know they were being sold the policy, or thought they had to have it to get the loan or credit card.
“In 2005 the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) e s t i m a t e d t h e r e were 20 million policies with around 7 million new policies being sold each year. T h a t m e a n s , o n a v e r a g e , e a c h household in the country has one of these policies.
“In their report, the CAB identified what they said to be widespread mis-selling and consumers paying over the odds for the policies, with only 15% -20% ever making a claim under the policy. Little wonder they called their report ‘Protection Racket’!
“It’s been estimated that about 60% of PPI policies were related to personal loans and most were sold by the high street banks and building societies. A typical premium, for a 5 year loan of pounds 10,000, was over pounds 2,000. As this was normally charged as a single premium and added to the loan, the banks would charge interest on it as well. That could take the total cost to pounds 2,500 or mo r e. Even i f someone was unfortunate enough t o need t o make a claim because they l o s t t h e i r j o b , but f o r t u n a t e enough t o escape t h e exclusions on the policy, then the cover would typically only cover the loan repayments for a year. If they claimed for a full year, the repayments may well have been less than the total cost of the policy. My own view is that if people really had understood the costs relative to the restrictive benefits, very few if any at all, would have taken the PPI.
“With bank staff being set targets for selling PPI alongside loans it is little wonder that many people felt hurried into taking it up under the impression they had to buy the policy, or were left thinking that taking out PPI would improve their chance of getting the loan. If a customer had shopped around for a policy they could usually have found cover at a fraction of the price.
“PPI is also sold alongside credit cards. The policies are designed to cover repayments to the credit card company if the customer is out of work. Again, we find many people don’t know they had it or that they had to have the policy if they wanted the card. Many others don’t appreciate that the policy usually only covers the minimum monthly payment on the card.
“Whether related to a loan or credit card, the policy should have been ful ly explained before purchase. If it was not then it may have been mis-sold and compensation could be due.
“The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has on several occasions over the last few years expressed concerns over Payment Protection Insurance. In September 2007 i t announced the results of its latest mystery shopping exercise. Despite previous warnings, a large number of lenders continued to f a i l t o m e e t t h e FSA’s s e l l i n g s t a n d a r d s. A t t h e e n d o f 2 0 0 8 , Alliance & Leicester and Egg became the latest on the list of institutions to be fined. In January 2009, most of the major banks announced that they would stop selling single premium policies. Although this will help new customers, it doesn’t help the millions who have been sold this kind of policy in the past. I t ‘s s t i l l down to them to make a complaint to get a refund of their premiums.
“With so many people affected, this latest scandal could dwarf the bank charge fiasco and be of a similar s c a l e t o t h e endowment c r i s i s. Awareness of the issue is growing fast, and thousands of people are now coming to us for help.
“Renaissance has already won pounds 22 million in payment protection insurance compensation and this is increasing at well over pounds 1million each month. Our average win is over pounds 2,000 and, in fact, we won pounds 33,000 for one particular client who had loans from First Plus.
“We pride ourselves on our results a n d , a s i m p o r t a n t l y , o n o u r customer service. Our aim is to take away the hassle of making a complaint by keeping the process as simple as possible from our clients’ point of view -they tell us that we are succeeding.
“Of course, we hope people use our service, but the important thing is to act now to make sure they are not victims of daylight robbery!” “It is great in this day and age to speak to polite staff who return calls and know what they are talking about”

Koda aides ‘dispose off’ Dubai investments
0 Comments | DNA : Daily News & Analysis; Mumbai, Jul 23, 2010 | by Kaul, Aditya
They made their millions through illicit means, and now they are busy cleaning up their tracks. Associates of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, who is an accused in a money laundering scam, have allegedly liquidated most of their Rs1,200 crore worth of investments in Dubai.
Koda’s key associates, the absconding duo of Sanjay Choudhary and the Indonesia-based Anil Vastavade, have sold off most of the properties in Dubai during the last three months, say sources attached to the investigations.
This came to light after a hawala (illegal currency exchange) dealer, Arvind Vyas, was caught at Mumbai airport while trying to flee to Dubai on June 3. Vyas revealed that Vastavade had summoned him to Dubai as his signature was required to complete the formalities for disposing off a number of properties.
The investigating agencies now fear that the accused may have sold off their properties elsewhere too, such as Thailand, Liberia, Indonesia, Sweden, and Singapore. Koda’s associates are also believed to have cancelled the allotment of four mines in Liberia in to wipe out the evidence against them.
The investigating agencies had documented that Koda’s associates had made massive investments in projects at Jumeirah and Deema in Dubai. They had also established that most of the funds for the investments were transferred through the hawala channel using the Mumbai-based entity Balaji Bullion and Retailers.
It would seem that the associates are managing to get away due to a criminal delay on the part of the finance ministry that was supposed to send a team to Dubai to follow up the case with the authorities concerned. But there has been no clearance for this team’s visit till date.
This delay is all the more shocking as India already has an extradition treaty as well as a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with the UAE, which could have helped the authorities to seek the extradition of the accused and the attachment of their properties in Dubai. Although a case of money laundering was registered against Koda and his associates in October 2009, and an Indian court granted permission to send a letter rogatory to Dubai in February last, the finance ministry’s final go-ahead came after two months
